متن کاملClassification of scalar field potentials with cosmological scaling solutions
An attractive method of obtaining an effective cosmological constant at the present epoch is through the potential energy of a scalar field. Considering models with a perfect fluid and a scalar field, we classify all potentials for which the scalar field energy density scales as a power law of the scale factor when the perfect fluid density dominates. There are three possibilities. The first tw...
متن کاملOn the potentials yielding cosmological scaling solutions
In the present work we perform a phase-plane analysis of the complete dynamical system corresponding to a flat FRW cosmological models with a perfect fluid and a self-interacting scalar field and show that every positive and monotonous potential which is asymptotically exponential yields a scaling solution as a global attractor.
متن کاملExponential potentials and cosmological scaling solutions
We present a phase-plane analysis of cosmologies containing a barotropic fluid with equation of state pγ = (γ − 1)ργ, plus a scalar field φ with an exponential potential V ∝ exp(−λκφ) where κ = 8πG. In addition to the well-known inflationary solutions for λ < 2, there exist scaling solutions when λ > 3γ in which the scalar field energy density tracks that of the barotropic fluid (which for exam...
متن کاملCosmological scaling solutions of non-minimally coupled scalar fields
On one hand recent cosmological observations, and particuarly the Hubble diagram for Type Ia supernovae [1] have led to the idea that the universe may be dominated by a component with negative pressure [2] and thus that today the universe is accelerating. Such a component can also, if one sticks to the prediction of inflation that Ω = 1, account for the “missing energy”. Yet, many candidates ha...
